“I have a wish.”

Guess I’ll post my short thoughts on the anime I have watched due to recswaps.

What is it about:
The main character, Jintan, is being haunted by a ghost that he can only see by the name of Menma (pictured above). A few years back, she dies in an unfortunate accident and wants her wish to be granted (even though she does not know what this wish is) and only Jintan can fulfill this. He struggles to find out what this wish is, why Menma is haunting him, and how to deal with his friends whom seemed like they have already moved on and wants Jintan to move on as well.

What I like:
Character Development: As the viewer, you get to observe the struggle and suffering of the main character and his circle of friends. Really well done here.
Relation: Most people can relate to the main character’s guilt and regrets (but not experience being haunted by someone ).
Emotionally Driven: Does very well in this department and genre.
Ending Song: Fits very well with the anime and it helps immensely that the soundtrack does not stand out at all.
Story: I was praying that this anime was not some typical bullshit Slice of Life anime and I got what I mostly wanted.

What I dislike:
Character Development: It was very weak on a certain character; as if it felt rushed at the end.
Story: Could of been easily better; would of loved to see a version where Menma is impossibly proven to exist and therefore, she cannot physically eat etc.
Music: I believe the soundtrack almost close to nonexistent (there are a few low key piano tracks).
Cheesiness: Totally ruined a lot of scenes for sure.

I rated it a 9/10 on MAL and it has easily taken over Clannad: After Story as my favorite drama anime. No bullshit ending makes a huge difference.
